A new version of Lubuntu 16.10 was released. Lubuntu is a fast and lightweight operating system. It’s core is based on Linux and Ubuntu. Lubuntu uses the LXDE desktop, it is focused on speed and energy efficiency. Lubuntu has very low system requirements and it can be installed on older PCs. A fresh installed Lununtu 16.10 consumes 300Mb of memory , compered with Ubuntu 16.10 that is consuming 800 Mb.

Ubuntu Touch OTA-8 Prepares for D-Day

An email was sent out by Canonical’s Łukasz Zemczak, with regards to Ubuntu Touch OTA-8 current status (Ubuntu Touch OTA-8 Prepares). As earlier reported, Canonical has been working a lot at Ubuntu Touch, the mobile version of Ubuntu lately. Unlike Android and iOS, Ubuntu Touch gets updated with regularity, Canonical being very focused on squashing bugs and adding improvements, so that the experience gets better and better with each update. According to Łukasz: As per the dates mentioned earlier, we are now in the middle of OTA-8 preparation.

Fedora 23 official version released with newest GNOME desktop

The official version of Fedora 23 is now available for download and install. As earlier announced during the alpha release, Fedora 23 comes with a number of changes that will improve all of the editions. For example, Fedora 23 is making use of compiler flags to help improve security by “hardening” the binaries against memory corruption vulnerabilities, buffer overflows, and so on. This is a “behind the scenes” change that most users won’t notice through normal use of a Fedora edition, but should help provide additional system security.

Install Opera Developer 33.0.1982.0 on Ubuntu OS

Opera Developer 33.0.1982.0 recently released, fixes a very annoying issue with opening links from external pages. The cancel button in download popup has also be implemented. You can also test autoupdate notification (visible in Opera menu on Windows and as a notification dialog on Mac). There is also improved stability, including fixes to a lot of bugs. Chromium is upgraded to version 46.0.2486.0. Known Issue: Flash plugin is not detectable on Mac and Linux – this has been fixed in the next developer release.

Latest Adobe Flash Player security update released

Adobe has released security updates for Adobe Flash Player for Windows, Macintosh and Linux. These updates address vulnerabilities that could potentially allow an attacker to take control of the affected system. Adobe is aware of reports that CVE-2015-0311 is actively being exploited in the wild via drive-by-download attacks against systems running Internet Explorer and Firefox on Windows 8.1 and below. Adobe recommends users update their product installations to the latest versions: Windows and Macintosh users should update to Adobe Flash Player 16.
