Pixelitor 3.1.1 recently released, is a free and open source image editing software that supports layers, image effects, multiple undo etc. Currently its main strength lies in the more than 70 image filters and color adjustments, some of which are unique. Upgrade to Gnome 3.16 in Ubuntu 15.04

Earlier in March this year, Gnome 3.16 stable version was released, but this version of Gnome was not made available for Ubuntu 15.04. Upgrading to Gnome 3.16 on Ubuntu 15.04 is currently possible but not recommended as you may likely run into issues since this release is largely untested fully. So ONLY do this if you really want to give it a try and ONLY on Ubuntu 15.04. Upgrade Gnome 3.

Kdenlive 15.04 recently released, is a free open-source video editor for GNU/Linux and FreeBSD, which supports DV, AVCHD and HDV editing. Kdenlive relies on several other open source projects, such as FFmpeg, the MLT video framework and Frei0r effects. Modern filmakers need to mix different kinds of media, including video, audio and images. Kdenlive is built upon MLT and ffmpeg frameworks, which provide unique features to mix virtually any kind of media.
