Chakra GNU/Linux OS receives new 5.5 series of Plasma releases, more specifically Plasma 5.5.1. This quick update that followed the first 5.5 release provides some bug fixes to Plasma users, in addition to the many changes that were introduced in 5.5.0 which aimed at enhancing users’ experience: Applications 15.12.0 also become available in the repositories Spectacle, a new screenshot application, replaces Ksnapshot adding new features and using a reworked interface Artikulate, Krfb, KSystemLog and many games have now been ported to Frameworks 5 Kdenlive and Ark have been further polished, Dolphin and Kate got significant bug fixes Kontact suite received many new features, whereas Amor, KTux, and SuperKaramba have been dropped.
Philip Müller, Manjaro Development Team recently announced the second release candidate of Manjaro Linux 15.12-rc2 (Capella). This is one of the biggest updates we did so far. Mostly due the C++ 11 ABI change within gcc. With this update, Plasma 4 is been dropped for good. All users of this desktop should either switch over to Plasma 5 or any other maintained desktop, like LXQt. Manjaro Linux 15.12-rc2 update: Now have Plasma 5.
Chakra 2015.11-Fermi recently released, is a GNU/Linux distribution with an emphasis on KDE and Qt technologies that focuses on simplicity from a technical standpoint and free software. As always, this release is a snapshot of our stable repositories and includes all the updates and changes that have happened in Chakra since the last release. The Fermi series of ISO releases marks some very important changes for Chakra: Plasma 5 is the default desktop environment, replacing kde-workspace 4.
