Qt 5.4 Beta released with Wayland platform plugin

Qt 5.4 beta which was recently released, is a cross-platform application framework that is widely used for developing application software with a graphical user interface (GUI), and also used for developing non-GUI programs such as command-line tools and consoles for servers. There are quite many important graphics improvements in Qt 5.4 in addition to improved HighDPI support. One of the most important ones is QOpenGLWidget, the modern replacement for the old QGLWidget class from Qt 4.

Ubuntu 12.04.5 LTS released

The Ubuntu team has just announced the release of Ubuntu 12.04.5 LTS (Long-Term Support) fifth LTS point release for its Desktop, Server, Cloud, and Core products, as well as other flavours of Ubuntu with long-term support. As with 12.04.4, 12.04.5 contains an updated kernel and X stack for new installations on x86 architectures. Ubuntu 12.04.5 LTS now uses a derivative of Linux kernel 3.13, which is maintained by Canonical. As usual, this point release includes many updates, and updated installation media has been provided so that fewer updates will need to be downloaded after installation.
