Tails 1.8 recently released, is a live operating system, that you can start on almost any computer from a DVD, USB stick, or SD card. It aims at preserving your privacy and anonymity, and helps you to Use the Internet anonymously and circumvent censorship; all connections to the Internet are forced to go through the Tor network; leave no trace on the computer you are using unless you ask it explicitly; use state-of-the-art cryptographic tools to encrypt your files, emails and instant messaging.

CentOS 7-1511 Released

CentOS team has announced the general availability of CentOS Linux 7 -1511 for 64 bit x86 compatible machines. This is the third major release for CentOS Linux 7 and is tagged as 1511, derived from Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2. Updates released since we froze the iso and install media content are posted in the updates repo along with the release. This will include content from late November 2015 and December 2015, therefore anyone running a new install is highly encouraged to run a ‘yum update’ operation immediate on install completion.

Bodhi Linux 3.1.1 released to address Wireless Password pormpts

Jeff Hoogland announced yesterday an unscheduled bug fix release for Bodhi Linux 3.1.1. The Bodhi Linux 3.1.0 release which was released back in August had an issue where users were not always prompted automatically for wireless passwords when connecting to encrypted networks. This lead to enough confusion / user frustration that we feel it warrants an updated install image now as opposed to waiting for our scheduled 3.2.0 release early 2016.

Netrunner Rolling 2015.11 Linux released with KDE Plasma update

The Netrunner Team recently announced the release of Netrunner Rolling 2015.11 Linux – 64bit version. (Note that the 32bit version currently remains at 2015.09). Netrunner Rolling 2015.11 has been updated with packages from KDE Plasma and KDE Applications. Other Updates: The desktop is at Plasma 5.4.2 together with KDE Applications 15.08.2 and many more applications and libraries updated to their latest versions. Firefox with built-in Plasma-support is at 42.

AntiX MX 15 Linux Distro (codename ‘Fusion’) first Beta release is Based on Debian 8.2

antiX development team have just announced the first public beta of MX-15 (codename ‘Fusion’) based on the reliable and stable Debian Jessie (8.2) with extra enhancements from our packaging team. Just like MX-14, this release defaults to sysVinit (though systemd is available once installed for those that prefer to use it). Available in 32 and 64 bit. The 32 bit version (c1.1GB) ships with 2 stable 3.16 Debian kernels (pae and non-pae), while the 64 bit (c1GB) comes with the more recent kernel 4.

Manjaro i3 15.11 released

The Manjaro community has recently announced the release of Manjaro i3 15.11. This latest edition features i3-wm 4.11 of the next-branch including sticky windows and i3-gaps. This was made possible by i3-developer Airblader on the implementation of the new functions. Manjaro i3 is now fully maintained by packages and aims to be pre-configured for all basic needs while remaining completely customizable. Dmenu-manjaro 4.5.1 offers recency-awareness and mouse-interaction and has a designated config-file for appearance and terminal preferences.

It looks like Google OnHub Router Is Using A Custom Version Of ChromeOS

As you may remember, Google and TP-Link have announced that Google OnHub Router, a premium router that was first said to run a modified version of Gentoo, one of the oldest Linux distributions. It is a modern dual-band wireless router, operating networks on both 2.4GHz and 5GH frequencies. But a bunch of geeks have disassembled the router and studied it closely, discovering that the device is actually running a modified version of ChromeOS, which is the default OS of the Chromebooks.
