Wine 1.8 released with support for DirectWrite and Direct2D, and new Pulse Audio driver

Wine 1.8 recently released, comes with the implementation of DirectWrite and Direct2D, and the new Pulse Audio driver. It also contains a lot of improvements across the board, as well as support for many new applications and games. See the release notes below for a summary of the major changes. Wine can be configured to report the Windows version as ‘Windows 8.1’ and ‘Windows 10’ Pulse Audio driver is implemented.

Wine 1.7.19 now available with Direct2D support

WineHQ recently released Wine development release 1.7.19. This release comes with a number of new features and bug fixes, including initial support for Direct2D. The latest release is now available in official Ubuntu PPA for install or upgrade. Key features in this release New JSProxy DLL for automatic proxy configuration. More OLE Accessible Object support. Improvements to the XML writer. Fixes for various memory issues found by Valgrind.
