Inodes and filesystems are important concepts in computer science that are often discussed in the context of operating systems. An inode is a data structure used to store information about a file or directory on a computer’s filesystem. This information includes the file’s size, ownership, access permissions, and the location of the file’s data on the physical storage device.
A filesystem is the underlying structure that an operating system uses to organize and manage the files and directories on a computer’s storage devices.
What is the ext2 filesystem? The ext2 (second extended) filesystem is a type of file system used in Linux operating systems. It was the default file system in many Linux distributions in the 1990s, and it is still in use today, although it has been largely superseded by newer file systems such as ext3 and ext4.
The ext2 file system was developed as a successor to the original ext (extended) file system, which was released in 1992.
What is a disk partition? Introduction A disk partition is a logical division of a hard disk that is used to separate and organize data. A disk partition can be created to store specific types of data, such as operating system files, application files, or user data. In Linux, disk partitions are typically created during the installation process. In traditional Unix systems, system administrators would create many partitions, each of which would be used for a different purpose.

zbackup is a globally-deduplicating backup tool, based on the ideas found in rsync. Feed a large .tar into it, and it will store duplicate regions of it only once, then compress and optionally encrypt the result. Feed another .tar file, and it will also re-use any data found in any previous backups. This way only new changes are stored, and as long as the files are not very different, the amount of storage required is very low.

At least for a while as Mozilla still plans on deprecating Silverlight support sometime in the future (much as Google and Microsoft already have). Bug 1225293 which was made public today indicates Mozilla’s short term plans to support Silverlight in the Win64 builds. When exactly Silverlight will return to the Firefox 64-Bit builds is not exactly known. It could (but not likely) be with Firefox 43 already in Beta and due out December 15th, 2015 or (more likely) Firefox 44 still in Developer’s Edition (Aurora) and due out in late January 2016 or Firefox 45 currently in Nightly builds and due out early March 2016.

We generally start our OTA rollout with a small percent (~10%, randomly chosen) of our users to ensure that the OTA system is working correctly. The reason we do this is so that in case we find any serious issues, we can contain the problem quickly and find a solution before it impacts a wider audience. This also allows us the address the affected users quickly without too much of a queue.

Microsoft has just launched a new application for Android devices called AppComparison, but this time, it’s not an exclusive tool that could make Windows Phone and Windows 10 Mobile users angry. The company has decided to go for a tool that’s supposed to ease the transition from Android to Windows Phone, most likely because they expect more people to give a shot to their platform now that Windows 10 Mobile is just around the corner.
It was recently discovered that the NVIDIA graphics drivers incorrectly sanitized user mode inputs. A local attacker could use this issue to possibly gain root privileges. What this means in summary is that NVIDIA graphics drivers could be made to run programs as an administrator. This vulnerability affects the following drivers:

We started with a simple question, “What if we could use machine learning technology to detect the length of facial hair?” Many hallway jokes, brainstorming sessions, and mockups later, our early ideas have been realized far beyond our initial expectations.

ATTENTION: Due to an unavoidable ABI change the kernel updates have been given a new version number, which requires you to recompile and reinstall all third party kernel modules you might have installed. If you use linux-restricted-modules, you have to update that package as well to get modules which work with the new kernel version. Unless you manually uninstalled the standard kernel metapackages (e.g. linux-generic, linux-server, linux-powerpc), a standard system upgrade will automatically perform this as well.

In the past, “Halo” games have pushed the Xbox forward, showcasing the console and its ecosystem in entertaining and innovative ways. Making a “Halo” game that runs at 60 frames per second, on dedicated servers, with the scope, features and scale we’ve been dreaming of for more than a decade, is non-trivial. It’s a task that we, at 343 Industries, are taking very seriously to ensure we deliver the “Halo” game that fans deserve, and a game that is built from the ground up for Xbox One.

According to a Gamasutra report, quoting Epic’s technical director Mike Fricker, <em>the Xbox side of the code is “the same as Bluck Tusk is using to build the next Gears of War”</em>. The PS4 support will also allow developers to make games that will work with Sony’s VR headset Project Morpheus.

For some of us that host our websites with Godaddy, its always best practice to create a subdomain of your main site for development work. In this tutorial, I will demonstrate how I have gone about this.
Step 1: Create Subdomain– Log into your Account
– Click the plus (+) sign for WEB HOSTING to expand it. Then click on Launch
– Next click on Hosted Domains
– Under the domain you want to create a subdomain if you have more than one domain, click either Manage or Add under Subdomains column.

I love zabbix a lot because of its ease of use and the simplicity of the configuration when it comes to monitoring anything. I recently added a monitor to check the fragmentation level of volumes on a machine once a week and set it to trigger an alert when the fragmentation level reaches the set threshold.
I wrote a simple command line statement that would run the defrag check and output just the value.

I was working on a simple project on how to manage my Amazon EC2 and S3 buckets from my local machine and decided to document how to achieve this using the Amazon EMR CLI for Windows. There are several tools and options how there that you can also use to manage your Amazon EC2 and S3 buckets, for instance Windows PowerShell.
For the purpose of this post, I will focus mainly on Amazon EMR CLI.
Note: Replace the ‘BUCKET-NAME’ with your bucket name
– Click on Save to save changes
What is cloud computing?
Year First → Months (Jan – Dec) → each month will have two folders one per server– Click on the newly created bucket → click Create folder
– Enter a name for the folder → press enter
– Click on the newly created folder → click on Create folder and repeat same for other folders → when done, you should have the following:
3. Delete a folder:If for any reason you decide you want to delete a folder
Will update list from time to time and if you want to share other tools you have used, please feel free and reply:

Bonjour à tous (For those of us who don’t know French, its ‘Hello Everyone’ :)). I just started learning French, so hoping to do better than this.
WSUS is one of my favorite application and I taught it wise to show us how to setup one on a Windows Server 2012 but this time using Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Cluster. To begin with, you need to ensure you have a clustered SQL environment already in place.

If this domain controller is the first Windows Server 2008 R2 domain controller in the forest, you must prepare the forest for Windows Server 2008 R2 by extending the schema (that is, by running adprep /forestprep) on the schema operations master if this has not already been done. If this domain controller is the first Windows Server 2008 R2 domain controller in a Windows Server 2003 domain, you must prepare the domain by running adprep /domainprep on the infrastructure master.

– Log onto the domain controller -> click Start ->Administrative Tools -> click Group Policy Management
– Expand the Group Policy Objects in the forest\domain containing the Default Domain Policy Group Policy object (GPO) -> Right-click the Default Domain Policy GPO -> click Edit

– Open Server Manager -> Expand Roles, Active Directory Certificate Services -> Right-click the name of your CA -> click Properties
– Click the Extensions tab -> In the Select extension list, click Authority Information Access (AIA)
– Click Add -> In the Location box, type http:///ocsp (Note: ServerDNSName is the hostname of the Online Responder server) -> click OK
