Scribus 1.5.2 recently released, is a page layout program for Linux, FreeBSD, PC-BSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD, Solaris, OpenIndiana, Debian GNU/Hurd, Mac OS X, OS/2 Warp 4, eComStation, Haiku and Windows. Scribus since inception has evolved into one of the premier Open Source desktop applications.
This latest release of the development version Scribus 1.5.2, is another major step onto the next fully-featured version 1.6.0. In terms of stability, 1.5.2 can be already be regarded as robust. The Scribus Team encourages the wide-spread use and testing of version 1.5.2 in as many environments as possible. User feedback will help us to release a rock-solid version 1.6.0.
Scribus 1.5.2 Highlights
- The text layout engine has been rewritten from scratch in preparation for support of complex scripts such as Arabic, Hebrew, Chinese and Hindi coming in Scribus 1.5.3 and later.
- Within the context of the text layout system rewrite, some new text features introduced with the 1.5.0 release have been stabilized and improved.
- Improvements to the canvas rendering on Hi-DPI screens.
- The Autosave and File Recovery system has seen large improvements and is now highly configurable.
