How To Install IntelliJ IDEA 2016.1.2 Community Edition on Ubuntu

IntelliJ IDEA 2016.1.2 Community Edition which was recently released addresses two important security issues. The vulnerabilities, in various forms, are also present in older versions of the IDE; therefore, patches for those are also available.

IntelliJ IDEA 2016.1.2 Community Edition Highlights

User Interface:

  • Structure ToolWindow sorts shortens entry names wrong
  • Having focus in “Database Console” and pressing “close tab” with CMD-w always closes SQL console instead
  • No “Print…” opption in File menu
  • gdb console is blinking and adding and deleting scroll bar.
  • Tooltip animations and buggy visibility are exceedingly frustrating
  • Choose sources dialog cannot be cancelled properly
  • StringUtil.pluralize() is incorrect
  • IntelliJ IDEA 2016.1 requires acceptance of privacy policy each time I run IDEA
  • deadlock on 16 EAP 144.2925.2 startup
  • Scroll preview
  • Find by mouse shortcut does not work with mouse button 4/5
