Install ClassicMenu Indicator on Ubuntu OS

ClassicMenu Indicator is a notification area applet (application indicator) for the top panel of Ubuntu’s Unity desktop environment. It provides a simple way to get a classic GNOME-style application menu for those who prefer this over the Unity dash menu. Like the classic GNOME menu, it includes Wine games and applications if you have those installed.

  • added ‘python-xdg’ as a dependency
  • replaced build-deb ‘python-all’ with ‘python’

This application is available from the PPA (“Personal Package Archive”) ppa:diesch/testing for all current versions of Ubuntu. If you add this PPA to your software sources Ubuntu’s Update manager will automatically install newer versions of ClassicMenu Indicator when they are available.

Install ClassicMenu Indicator on Ubuntu OS

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:diesch/testing

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install classicmenu-indicator

After you have installed the application, the app will be started automatically when you next log in. Or you can use the dash or the command line to start the application (use classicmenu-indicator on the command line).
