Wine 1.7.27 Released with further Direct2D support

Wine 1.7.27 development version has been released and this release includes some more work on Direct2D support, various improvements to RichEdit interfaces, initial support for ICMP version 6, and various bug fixes. Some of the bug fixes are listed out below:

Wine 1.7.27 update

  • Thunder:Can’t finish any task
  • SC2 ‘LazyLaunch’ v2.0 fails with ‘Exception frame is not in stack limits=> unable to dispatch exception.’ (TLS callbacks can taint EBP, needs assembly wrapper)
  • AT4RE FastScanner v3.0 hangs when clicking “Minimize”
  • Release key event is lost during lags in some games
  • World of warcraft crashes while changing the display resolution
  • Skyrim freezes on loading screen
  • Visual Studio 2005 trial crashes quickly building Wine
  • Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 exits silently on startup
  • Multiple game installers wait indefinitely for cmd.exe during execution of batch files (argv[0] is not ‘cmd.exe’) (Shroud of the Avatar: Forsaken Virtues, Aura Kingdom)

Install Wine 1.7.27 on Ubuntu 14.04 & Ubuntu 14.10

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-wine/ppa

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install wine1.7

 

Install Wine 1.7.27 on Fedora and CentOS

sudo yum -y groupinstall 'Development Tools'

sudo yum -y install libX11-devel freetype-devel

wget -c http://citylan.dl.sourceforge.net/project/wine/Source/wine-1.7.27.tar.bz2

tar -xvf wine-1.7.27.tar.bz2

cd wine-1.7.27/

for 32bit 

./tools/wineinstall

./configure --enable-win64

make
