Popcorn Time 0.3.3 Released with Plethora of new Features

Popcorn Time is a multi-platform, Free and Open Source video streaming application. It is an HTML/CSS/JavaScript application (NodeJS) rendered by a browser (node-webkit). The streaming is done by a torrent client for NodeJS (Peerflix). All the informations (torrent, images, informations) are automatically fetched by the application from different sources and are nicely put together.


This latest release comes with a plethora of new features which are outlined below. There is already work on-going on version 0.3.4 with new features like Subtitles support for Chromecast and many others.

  •  This release ships with a huge internal code clean up that breaks former Databases compatibilities, so you most probably will have to reset your DataBase on install
  •  Auto-update will not be supported for this release
  •  You can now find Popcorn at http://git.popcorntime.io
  •  Use FontAwesome instead of PNG’s: nicer, sharper icons across the UI
  •  Get rid of white flash at startup
  •  Rethink Settings: much cleaner layout, separated in advanced.
  •  3 new themes added
  •  New settings:
    •  Always on Top option
    •  Start page option
    •  Rating on covers
    •  Fade or Hide watched items
  • Multiple UI improvements
    • Resize covers on-the-fly, Try pressing Ctrl+ and Ctrl- in the cover view!
