Install Lightworks Video Editor in Ubuntu 14.04

Lightworks is a full-featured, professional non-linear video editor with all the power, performance and features you would expect, with support for all major professional broadcast formats from SD, HD, 2K and Red 4K files. Lightworks Free version has all the power of Lightworks, with Web-compatible file (MPEG4/H.264 – max. resolution: 1280x720p pixels), allowing you with optional upload direct to Youtube and Vimeo at a maximum resolution of 720p.

Lightworks is able to use the power of your graphics card or chipset to accelerate video processing. Good results gotten with NVIDIA and ATI graphics cards. The two cards that have been used by the developers for majority of their development and internal testing are ‘Nvidia FX 4000‘ & ‘NVidia FX 2000‘.

Lightworks supports a wide range of native formats, like DVCAM / DVCPRO 25, XDCAM HD, Blu-ray (VC1, H.264 and MPEG-2 HD 422) and DVD (MTS, M2TS and MPG)Apple, Pro Res, RED R3D, DPX (8 bit, 10 bit, 16 bit), Image Sequence (BMP, DPX, JPEG, PNG, TGA, Compressed TGA, TIFF), Broadcast Wave Format with drop and non-drop frame timecode options.   • Intel i7 chipset or faster, fast AMD chipset
  • 3GB RAM or higher
  • Two high-resolution displays (1920 x1080) or above
  • PCI Express graphics card (NVIDIA or ATI) with 1GB or higher and support for DirectX 9
  • Separate media and system drives (these can be internal or external as long as the the interface is suitably fast
  • Compatible sound card
  • 200MB Disk space for Lightworks installation

sudo apt-get install gdebi



sudo gdebi libtiff4_3.9.6-11_amd64.deb

sudo gdebi lwks-11.5.1-amd64.deb

Register online to enable you access the application.
