Install Redis 2.8.9 in Ubuntu 14.04, 13.10

Redis is an open source, ‘NOSQL’, in-memory, advanced key-value store with optional durability and its written in ANSI C. It is often referred to as a data structure server since keys can contain strings, hashes, lists, sets and sorted sets.

Redis 2.8.9 only has new features introduced, no bugs fixed:

  • The HyperLogLog data structure. You can read more about it in this blog post.
  • The Sorted Set data type has now support for lexicographic range queries, check the new commands ZRANGEBYLEX, ZLEXCOUNT and ZREMRANGEBYLEX
