Install Android Studio in Ubuntu, Linux Mint

Android Studio is a new Android development environment based on IntelliJ IDEA and similar to Eclipse with the ADT Plugin. Android Studio provides integrated Android developer tools for development and debugging.

Install Android Studio in Ubuntu 14.04, 13.10, Linux Mint

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:paolorotolo/android-studio
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install android-studio

  • You need to restart the machine for the application to show up in Dash
  • You can also click on Check for updates now if any

Uninstall Android Studio

– Install PPA Purge if you haven’t already

sudo apt-get install ppa-purge

– Now purge the installed PPA

sudo ppa-purge ppa:paolorotolo/android-studio
