Nvidia 337.19 Linux Graphics Driver Released

The latest version of Nvidia Graphics driver for Linux which is Nvidia 337.19 has been released and is available for download. It comes with plenty of fixes and changes. This article will guide you on how to install Nvidia 337.19 Beta in Ubuntu.

Release Highlights

  • Fixed a bug causing mode validation to fail for 4K resolutions over HDMI in certain situations.
  • Added nvidia-settings command line controls for over- and under-clocking attributes. Please see the nvidia-settings(1) manual page for more details.
  • Fixed several cosmetic issues in the clock control user interface of nvidia-settings.
  • Added support for the GLX_EXT_stereo_tree extension. For more details, see the extension specification:
  • http://www.opengl.org/registry/specs/EXT/glx_stereo_tree.txt
  • Enabled support for using Unified Back Buffer (UBB) and 3D Stereo with the composite extension on Quadro cards. Using stereo with a composite manager requires a stereo-aware composite manager. Otherwise, only the left eye of stereo applications will be displayed

Install Nvidia 337.19

Step 1: Uninstall Previous Version

– First remove previous nvidia graphics driver

sudo apt-get purge nvidia*
sudo apt-get install nvidia-319-updates-dev

– Stop the graphics session

# For Ubuntu LightDM

sudo service lightdm stop

#For Gnome GDM

sudo service gdm stop

Step 2: Download Nvidia 337.19 Beta

32bit

wget us.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86/337.19/NVIDIA-Linux-x86-337.19.run

For 64 bit

wget us.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86_64/337.19/NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-337.19.run

Step 3: Make the Installer Executable

sudo chmod +x NVIDIA-Linux-*-337.19.run

Step 4: Run the Executable

sudo ./NVIDIA-Linux-*-337.19.run

Step 5: Start Graphic Session

# For Ubuntu LightDM

sudo service lightdm start

# For Gnome GDM

sudo service gdm start

Uninstall Nvidia 337.19

– To uninstall this, you will need the downloaded file in step 3

sudo ./NVIDIA-Linux-*-337.19.run --uninstall
