Install PyCharm 3 in Ubuntu 14.04, 13.10

PyCharm is a Python IDE with unique code assistance and analysis, for productive Python development on all levels. It’s an intelligent Editor, with code completion, on-the-fly error highlighting, auto-fixes. Its got support for modern web development frameworks, such as Django, Flask, Google App Engine, Pyramid, web2py, etc.

PyCharm comes in 2 editions, Professional Edition which is a paid editionĀ and Community Edition which is free.

System Requirements

  • 512 MB RAM minimum, 1 GB RAM recommended
  • 1024×768 minimum screen resolution
  • Oracle JRE 1.6+ or OpenJDK 1.7+
  • Python 2.4 or higher, Jython, PyPy or IronPython

Install PyCharm 3.1

– First install Oracle Java JDK/JRE

– Install PyCharm 3.1

wget -q -O - http://archive.getdeb.net/getdeb-archive.key | sudo apt-key add -

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install pycharm
