Apache OpenOffice 4.1.0 Released

Apache OpenOffice 4.1.0 had just been released within the week and it comes with minor feature release. All users of Apache OpenOffice 4.0.1 or earlier are advised to upgrade to this latest release. Below are the new features and improvements/enhancements made:

  • Clipboard enhancements for Graphic Content

Step 1: Remove LibreOffice

sudo apt-get remove --purge libreoffice* libexttextcat-data*

sudo apt-get autoremove

Step 2: Download latest OpenOffice version

For 32bit

wget http://sourceforge.net/projects/openofficeorg.mirror/files/4.1.0/binaries/en-US/Apache_OpenOffice_4.1.0_Linux_x86_install-deb_en-US.tar.gz

For 64bit

wget http://sourceforge.net/projects/openofficeorg.mirror/files/4.1.0/binaries/en-US/Apache_OpenOffice_4.1.0_Linux_x86-64_install-deb_en-US.tar.gz

Step 3: Extract Downloaded File

tar -xvf Apache_OpenOffice*.tar.gz

Step 4: Install OpenOffice

sudo dpkg -i en-US/DEBS/*.deb

Step 5: Install Desktop Integration

sudo dpkg -i en-US/DEBS/desktop-integration/*.deb
