Install Apache OpenOffice 4.0.1 in Ubuntu 13.10

Apache OpenOffice, commonly known as OpenOffice.org, or OpenOffice, is an open-source office productivity software suite whose main components are for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, graphics, and databases. OpenOffice is available for a number of different computer operating systems, is distributed as free software. Steps to install OpenOffice:

Step 1: Remove LibreOffice

sudo apt-get remove --purge libreoffice* libexttextcat-data* && sudo apt-get autoremove

Step 2: Download latest OpenOffice version

For 32bit

wget http://sourceforge.net/projects/openofficeorg.mirror/files/4.0.1/binaries/en-US/Apache_OpenOffice_4.0.1_Linux_x86_install-deb_en-US.tar.gz

For 64bit

wget http://sourceforge.net/projects/openofficeorg.mirror/files/4.0.1/binaries/en-US/Apache_OpenOffice_4.0.1_Linux_x86-64_install-deb_en-US.tar.gz

Step 3: Extract Downloaded File

tar -xvf Apache_OpenOffice*.tar.gz

Step 4: Install OpenOffice

sudo dpkg -i en-US/DEBS/*.deb

Step 5: Install Desktop Integration

sudo dpkg -i en-US/DEBS/desktop-integration/*.deb
