Install Spotify on Debian 6/7

Spotify is a great way to listen to music by streaming it on your phone, in your browser, or on your Linux desktop. You can stream everything, upgrade and sync tracks and playlists offline, or purchase individual tracks to keep forever. To install on Debian desktop, follow steps below:

Step 1: Add new list to Repository

Edit /etc/apt/sources.list and add following line

deb http://repository.spotify.com stable non-free

Step 2: To verify the downloaded packages

sudo apt-key adv --keyserver hkp://keyserver.ubuntu.com:80 --recv-keys 94558F59

 Step 3: Update Packages

64bit

wget http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/o/openssl/libssl0.9.8_0.9.8o-4squeeze14_amd64.deb

sudo dpkg -i libssl0.9.8_0.9.8o-4squeeze14_amd64.deb

32bit:

wget http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/o/openssl/libssl0.9.8_0.9.8o-4squeeze14_i386.deb

sudo dpkg -i libssl0.9.8_0.9.8o-4squeeze14_i386.deb

Step 5: Install Spotify

sudo apt-get install spotify-client
