Install latest VirtualBox on Ubuntu 13.10

VirtualBox is a free x86 and AMD64/Intel64 virtualisation solution allowing a wide range of x86/x64 operating systems such as Windows, Linux to run on a Linux system. This tutorial is a simple step-by-step approach on how to install the latest virtualbox on Ubuntu 13.10.

Step 1: Add VirtualBox PPA to Repository

– Open your terminal and run following commands:

Step 2: Download and Install Key

[code lang=”js”]wget -q http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian/oracle_vbox.asc -O- | sudo apt-key add -[/code]

Step 3: Update Repository

[code lang=”js”]sudo apt-get update[/code]

Step 4: Install VirtualBox

[code lang=”js”]sudo apt-get install virtualbox-4.3[/code]

Note: Version 4.3 was the latest as at the time of writing this post. Simply replace virtualbox-4.3 with the most recent update if any

Step 5: Start VirtualBox

[code lang=”js”]virtualbox[/code]
