After installing a fresh copy of Ubuntu 13.10 64bit on a VirtualBox, I noticed that the sound wasn’t working during boot-up and while trying to play a music. I searched online for solution but non worked in my case since I was using a VirtualBox. Luckily for me I made a simple change on the VirtualBox settings and there came the sound at last 🙂
How did I do it?
– Shutdown the virtualbox machine, click on the settings button > Audio tab. Ensure that the following settings is correct:
Ensure that “Enable Audio” box is checked
Host Audio Driver: Select Windows DirectSound (Not sure if this will be same with yours)
Audio Controller: Select ICH AC97 or try any other controllers listed and test to see which one works
Start-up your VBox and your sound should start workingcomments powered by Disqus
