Install Spotify on Ubuntu 13.10

Spotify is a great way to listen to music by streaming it on your phone, in your browser, or on your Linux desktop. You can stream everything, upgrade and sync tracks and playlists offline, or purchase individual tracks to keep forever. Spotify is been used by tens of millions of users worldwide and certainly a great App to recon with.

Note: According to Spotify, this is a preview build of Spotify for Linux that is still unsupported

Step 1: Add Spotify Repository

[code lang=”js”]$ sudo apt-add-repository -y “deb http://repository.spotify.com stable non-free”[/code]

Step 2: Verify Download Package using Spotify Key

[code lang=”js”]$ sudo apt-key adv –keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com –recv-keys 94558F59[/code]

Step 3: Update Repository

[code lang=”js”]$ sudo apt-get update[/code]

Step 4: Install Spotify

[code lang=”js”]$ sudo apt-get install spotify-client[/code]

Step 5: Start Spotify

[code lang=”js”]$ spotify[/code]

Enter your username and password and Log In

All done and ready to start listening to your songs 🙂
