Install Adobe Flash Player 11.2 on CentOS/RHEL 6.5

This is a simple step by step guide on how to install Adobe Flash Player version 11.2 (32bit or 64bit) on CentOS/RHEL 6.5 using Adobe’s YUM repository which is kept up to date. The outlined steps below should also work for earlier version up until 6.0. If you are running any version older than 6.0, feel free to comment if it worked on that version or not.

Step 1: Install Adobe YUM Repository

– Open CentOS terminal console, switch user to “root” using command “su –“. Then run the following commands:

Adobe Repository for 32bit (x86) OS

[code language=”sql”]# rpm -ivh http://linuxdownload.adobe.com/adobe-release/adobe-release-i386-1.0-1.noarch.rpm

# rpm –import /etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-adobe-linux[/code]

Adobe Repository for 64bit (x86_64) OS

[code language=”sql”]# rpm -ivh http://linuxdownload.adobe.com/adobe-release/adobe-release-x86_64-1.0-1.noarch.rpm

# rpm –import /etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-adobe-linux[/code]

Step 2: Update Repository

– Run the following command to check if Adobe updates are available in repository

Step 3: Install Adobe Flash Player

– Run the following command to complete the installation

[code language=”sql”]# yum -y install flash-plugin nspluginwrapper alsa-plugins-pulseaudio libcurl[/code]

Step 4: Verify Adobe Flash Player Plugin

– Open Firefox, type “about:plugins” in the address bar and enter. You should see the Adobe Flash Player plugin listed
